PlasmaDerm® was developed to provide the effect of cold plasma in a medically safe, reproducible and easy-to-use form. The system generates cold plasma directly at the wound surface – where germs, inflammatory stimuli and the local wound environment can be specifically addressed. At the same time, an electrical field is created that acts beyond the surface and improves microcirculation in deeper tissue layers – a proven effect that makes PlasmaDerm® unique. Thanks to its deep effect, PlasmaDerm® can provide additional targeted support for wound healing.

The innovative technology behind PlasmaDerm®

PlasmaDerm® is a direct cold plasma process: It generates cold plasma using a physical process known as dielectric barrier discharge (DBE).

The active electrode, which is coated with a dielectric and equipped with nubs, plays a central role in the direct cold plasma generation of PlasmaDerm®. These nubs are located on the spacer and are gently placed on the treatment area, ensuring the optimal distance from the tissue. The ambient air between the nubs serves as the basis for plasma generation. The ‘Flex’ and ‘Cutan’ spacers are designed to adapt optimally to the respective wound geometry. This ensures that the plasma quality remains consistently high during application, regardless of the practitioner.
